Printing Bill of Lading Reports out of standard CSI (SyteLine)

 In Uncategorized

This is an undocumented Feature in the use of Delivery Orders in Infor CloudSuite Industrial or SyteLine (all Versions).

If you are a veteran of SyteLine I am sure you have heard that if you use Delivery Orders you must use consolidated invoicing.  Most organizations don’t want to use consolidated invoicing, so they move the creation and maintenance of Bill of Ladings outside the system and deal with it.  Many very experienced consultants will tell you this is the way it is.

That is true to a point; however, there are ways around it.  The answer that few know is that you still can use the delivery order to produce a Bill of Lading report without having to do consolidated invoicing.

You can print a Bill of Lading Report from Infor CloudSuite Industrial (SyteLine) without linking delivery order sequences to a customer order shipment.    Some organizations just want the ability to print a Bill of Lading Report for each shipment.  If you enter a delivery Order Header and one or many delivery order Lines you can approve and print a BOL report.   The now allows you to store all your bill of lading reports within the system where anyone can access them.

It is common to pick one of the fields on the delivery order header and reference a Customer Order number and line number.   This allows you to link the BOL to each order through a reference field.   This out of the box solution is a soft unvalidated link but could be developed more if desired and with a little technical skill.  Regular invoicing can still be used with this process.

This key to using delivery orders without consolidated invoicing is the sequence linked to the shipping transaction.  This is where the logic forces you to use Consolidated invoicing.
